When we arrived at Powder King, the flakes were some of the biggest, fluffiest we’ve ever seen. It is such a good feeling to show up to a ski hill and know it’s going to be a good day. You feel that relentless stoke in the air that everyone shares, feeding the need for massive powder.

You know that feeling you get when the huge spraying pow turns are larger than you? Well that’s how our recent visit to Powder King turned out. The consistent pow stashes left us grinning all day.

When your hand is dragging through the snow you know it’s an extra epic day. How often do you get to do that? The snow was so deep you could almost touch it while standing off piste; it was nearly hip dip.

We love the fact that there are zero lift lines and getting chairlifts all to ourselves. More people need to know about this place, is what we were thinking. We felt like we were getting away with something as we broke through a misty cloud on our way up on the chairlift and then ran smack into the midst of all incredible snow. We were laughing because we couldn’t believe we were being treated to fresh turns everywhere we went.

If you’re looking for a place to hang your board or skis at the end of the day, don’t forget that Azouzetta Lodge is five minutes from Powder King. They have cabins for rent. And, we admit that we fell for the amazing cinnamon buns, eggs benny and quality food that is sure to keep you fueled for big day on the slopes.

When You Go

If you are heading to Powder King, SnowSeekers wants to remind you to always ski with a buddy and a whistle. Our advice is to “ski with a buddy” which is easy because it’s easy to make friends here. The whistle is a must, considering the tree wells here are DEEP because of the bounty of POW waiting on almost every run.
