Operation Spring Break

We are announcing a new spring break spot that you as a PG Ski Club member might want to take your family this March 2019.

This week’s showcased spot is Quesnel, home to Troll Ski Resort as well as Wells for Nordic ski adventures and Barkerville for a bit of snow sliding with a history lesson.

We’ve partnered up with our friends SnowSeekers to help you make an informed decision this spring break about which winter destination your family might want to choose.

Quesnel – is home to solid prices that won’t break the bank.
• Pack the fat bikes for a ride over at West Timber Park
• Check out the Hallis Lake Ski Centre
• Troll is celebrating Spring Break from Mar. 18 to Mar. 30, with half day rates on lift passes and both the Yellow Life and the tube park will be free.

On the same weekend Canadian skiing legend Nancy Greene Raine visited the Hart Ski Hill to celebrate its 50th season, members of the Prince George Alpine Ski Club took to the mountains east of the city for a regional competition.

The 2019 TECK North Zone Race took place at Purden Ski Village on Saturday and Sunday (March 2-3) and saw almost 30 skiers from the region compete in slalom and giant slalom races.

Four Prince George skiers stood out above the rest over the two-day contest.

Among the ladies, Melinda Kobasiuk won gold in three of her four races in the Under-16 category, while Adree Brulotte left the Under-14’s in the dust and captured gold in all four entries.

The 2003-born Kobasiuk’s results are as follows:

Race Two = Did not start (DNS)

Race One = 1:39.21
Race Two = 1:35.76
The 2006-born Brulotte’s results are as follows:

Saturday Slalom
Race One = 1:31.60
Race Two = 1:32.66

Race One = 1:42.41
Race Two = 1:40.27
For the men, Jacob Hoskins (U-16) and Isaac Hausot (U-14) also took gold for the Prince George Alpine Ski Club in three of each of their four races.

The 2004-born Hoskins’ results are as follows:

Race Two = 1:34.93
The 2005-born Hausot’s results are as follows:

Race Two = 1:40.52
Sunday’s second race in the men’s U-16 giant slalom was the only race where the northern capital took gold, silver, and bronze.

Purden Ski Hill and the Prince George Alpine Ski Club are hosting the B.C. U-14 Skiing Championships later this month.

The North Zone regionals served as a prequel to the provincials that’ll take place March 15-17, when more than 150 athletes are expected to compete.
